There is a possibility that this position may be renewed on an annual basis depending on the organization needs, funding and employee performance, in accordance with the City temporary worker's policy.

Starting Hourly Rate:

Nature of Work Provide general information to the public in person, either over the phone or via email regarding Ann Arbor Parks and Rec park locations, rental opportunities, programs and activities and general City of Ann Arbor information. Screen, assist and/or refer public to other City units when appropriate. Process Park program/activity registrations and rentals/reservations utilizing recreation based software program. Completes monetary transactions and end-of-day accounting processes according to established guidelines/procedures. Reviews and records Park user surveys and feedback to share with appropriate staff. Varied clerical, customer service and light custodial work in the Parks and Rec Customer Service office.

Required QualificationsMinimum age requirement of 18 years and graduation from High School or possession of GED certificate. Proven customer service experience in recreation, retail, hospitality or other related industry. Well-developed organizational and time-management skills. Friendly, pleasant, outgoing personality suitable for working with a diverse community. Proficient in general computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start of employment.

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of customer service work in a recreation or office setting. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision. Experience with using recreation software such as Rec1 or CLASS/Active Network  

Work Schedule

Will typically work when the Parks Customer Service office is open: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM except Tuesdays until 8:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Some evening and/or weekend work is possible.

Positions in this class typically require: reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

Move and lift light objects less than 20 lbs such as mail, files, event signs and supplies. Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements. The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
