Nature of Work:  Responsible for the operation of Parks Customer Service office and Cobblestone Farm in the supervisor's absence. Assists in the development, implementation and leadership of Park rentals and special events.  Accountable for Cobblestone Farm rentals from inception to completion which may include, but not limited to; responding to rental inquiries, conducting facility tours, creating reservations and supervision of rentals. Scheduling and supervision of employees. Promotion of Cobblestone Farm, Park rentals and special event opportunities may include using a variety of communication and marketing vehicles including the City's website, social media, and surveys via the integration of visual/graphic design. Provides general information and responds to concerns/complaints from the public in person, over the phone or via email or in person regarding park locations, rental opportunities, programs & activities and general City of Ann Arbor information. Responsible for opening and closing of facilities including end-of-day accounting processes according to established guidelines and procedures. Must be comfortable exercising independent judgment and initiative while working in close collaboration with customers, event vendors and other City staff. May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently.

 

Required Qualifications:  Minimum of 21 years of age. Two (2) year's supervisory experience in hospitality industry, special event venues and/or recreation facilities. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, supervisory and communication skills. Friendly, pleasant and outgoing personality suitable for working with a diverse community.  Coordinate multiple projects and meet critical deadlines in a timely and accurate manner. Passion for delivering customer service at the highest possible level of excellence. Proficient in general computer programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word). CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start of employment.

  

Preferred Qualifications:  Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in operation, supervision or management of special event venues and/or recreation facilities.

 

Work Schedule:  Must have the ability to work afternoons, evenings and weekends.

 

Parks Customer Service office is open: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM except Tuesdays until 8:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Facility rentals and special events mainly occur on the weekdays from 3:00 PM to 1:00 AM and weekends 8:00 AM to 1:00 AM.

Positions in this class typically require: walking, standing, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.

 

Move and lift light objects up to 50 pounds such as mail, files, event signs, supplies and tables.  Set up and take down a table up to 50 lbs. with assistance on most occasions. Will be required to handle this responsibility without assistance on occasion.  

 

Operating office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.  The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
