IMPORTANT POSITION INFORMATION

There is a possibility that this position may be renewed on an annual basis depending on the organization needs, funding and employee performance, in accordance with the City temporary worker's policy. This position will begin April/May 2018

 

ENGINEERING TEMP - STUDENT INTERN: TRAFFIC
Starting Hourly Rate: $13.13

 

Nature of Work: The student intern will work with the traffic engineering team and other engineering related duties as assigned.

The intern will perform tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Prepare public outreach/communication documents
  • Track and maintain databases
  • Maintain and edit informational web pages
  • Participate in the organization and running of public meetings
  • Basic civil engineering tasks
  • Review of documents and/or plans, including permits
  • Basic civil engineering tasks including, but not limited to: research, project design, and basic traffic engineering.

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Engineering or related field
  • Must be able to effectively document and communicate technical information to both a technical and non technical audience
  • Ability to take instructions; work in teams, and serve the public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products as well as general computer skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral
  • Good organizational skills
  • The incumbent must have the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle as he/she may be required to drive a vehicle for local travel. Must have a valid driver's license.

Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
