Work schedule/Duration of Assignment: This position will work up to 40 hours a week, for the full duration of the 6-month assignment. 

 
Nature of Work: 

  • Perform data collection in the field (taking coordinates of hand holes, measuring diameter of conduit, capturing images of conduit and fiber optic cables)
  • Digitizing information collected in the field using a combination of ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap) and ArcFM Fiber/Conduit Manager
  • Editing GIS attribute tables using Field Calculator
  • Editing road centerline feature class
  • Aligning property boundaries with other feature class boundaries (eg, zoning, census tracts)
  • Updating feature class metadata
  • Managing feature annotation feature classes

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent
  • Experience with ArcGIS Desktop (ArcMap)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with capturing digital images
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Capable of moving heavy objects
  • Capable of walking long distances daily

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ArcFM Fiber/Conduit Manager
  • Experience with Enterprise geodatabases
  • Experience with Collector for ArcGIS
  • Knowledge of fiber optic network structures
  • Experience with GPS units (preferably Garmin products)

Field Work: Ability to safely maneuver in and around rough, uneven or rocky surfaces. Frequently move /drag objects up to 115 pounds including concrete handhole covers. Ability to walk distances of up to 3 miles daily.

 

Light Work: Operating standard office equipment, requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.  The ability to perceive color as defined by the Inter Society Color Council National Bureau of Standards system.
