There is a possibility that this position may be renewed on an annual basis depending on the organization needs, funding and employee performance, in accordance with the City temporary worker's policy.


Starting Hourly Rate: $13.33


Nature of Work: Assist the facility supervisor in the administration, management and operation of the Ann Arbor Senior Center and Burns Park activities. Directly responsible for the overall operation of program services in the facility supervisor's absence. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Program service operation management; develop, plan, organize, implement, and evaluate a variety of senior service programs and community services, including classes, workshops, food service, special events and partnership. Establish schedules and methods for providing senior services; identify resource needs; review needs with Facility Supervisor; allocate resources accordingly. Prepare senior center publicity; Monthly newsletter, seasonal brochures; coordinate television production, develop flyers, maintain bulletin boards, and update press release correspondence. Prepare periodic reports; maintain files and records. Maintain the online senior program registration and web site. Keeps records and prepares daily, weekly, monthly, and annual statistical and administrative reports. Provide customer service; greet & register participants, manage senior resource, assist with program set up and preparations. Financial management; make cash-out, handle deposits, inventory control. Supervise employees and volunteers. Prepare program schedule and develop/ maintain office calendar. Strives for quality customer service and continuous improvement and solicits customer feedback to improve services. Other duties as assigned by Supervisor. May exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Required Qualifications: Past supervisory experience. Experience with customer service, cash handling, staff & volunteer management and policy and procedure implementation. CPR/AED and First Aid certification required by start of employment. Desirable Qualifications: Past experience in recreation or senior services management preferred background and or training which relates specifically to the facility operation job functions. Additional education/experience with Gerontology, Physical Therapy, and Therapeutic Recreation, working with older adults, special populations or post-Rehabilitation. Food service knowledge and/or certification.

Work Schedule: Primarily works weekdays however because of the nature of recreation facility operations, weekend and evening hours may be a necessary part of the work schedule. Hours vary according to facility programs and seasons.
