Nature of Work: Assist Park Planner, Natural Area Technician, and/or the Outreach Coordinator with special projects related to City parks and natural areas. Projects may include conducting data collection and performing research and analysis, including the analysis of comparable organizations for relevant trends and opportunities, compiling and analyzing data, and preparing reports and making recommendations for improvements. Develop, maintain, and update communication literature including brochures, maps and other publications utilizing the City's GIS system and other electronic media.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, or natural resource management required. Excellent organizational, problem solving, mapping, and record keeping skills. Effective and concise verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently on complex research projects, requiring the synthesis of information from multiple sources and disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in park planning or natural resource management, landscape architecture, urban planning preferred. Experience with GIS,

knowledge of barrier free access standards. Knowledge of the ecosystems of SE Michigan, and the ecology of urban natural areas. Ability to work with the public and volunteers
